What are chemical peels?
Chemical peels use carefully selected medical-grade solutions to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin and stimulate renewal underneath. At Coastal Aesthetic Physicians, peels are physician-directed and customized in depth and strength based on your skin type, pigment pattern, and goals.
Peels can improve sun damage, uneven tone, fine lines, dullness, and certain types of acne or post-inflammatory discoloration. As the treated skin gently sheds over several days, fresher, smoother, and more even-toned skin is revealed.
Most patients do a series of light to medium-depth peels spaced several weeks apart, with maintenance treatments as needed. Peels can be combined with IPL and microneedling as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan—peels refine texture and tone at the surface, while other treatments address deeper pigment, vessels, and collagen.
